If you have loose skin around your eyes that makes you look tired or older than you really are, eyelid surgery (technically called blepharoplasty) may be the ideal solution for you. Eyelid surgery can remove excess skin and fat deposits that occur over or under the eyes, smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines and improving the overall appearance of your eyelids.

Anyone with extensive wrinkling, “puffy” eyelids, or droop in the upper and/or lower eyelids may be a good candidate for blepharoplasty. However, in addition to having one or more of these specific problems, you should also meet the following basic criteria:

  • In good overall health
  • Have realistic expectations
  • Not taking medications that could interfere with healing

If you have any of the medical conditions listed below, you may be at an increased risk of complications from blepharoplasty. It’s important to ensure these conditions are adequately controlled before undergoing surgery:

  • Dry eye syndrome
  • Glaucoma
  • Hyperthyroidism
  • Graves’ disease
  • Tear duct problems

The best way to find out if you are a good candidate for eyelid surgery is to schedule a consultation with us. We will review your full medical history to determine if there is any problem preventing you from being a good candidate for this procedure.
