Gynecomastia is the technical term for enlarged male breasts – a condition that many men live with as a result of genetics, medication, weight gain, or hormonal changes. Even if you are at a normal body weight, you may still have enlarged breasts that are unaffected by your diet and exercise efforts. Male breast reduction can correct this problem by reducing the amount of fatty or glandular tissue in your chest area.

One common approach to male breast reduction involves liposuction. If fatty tissue is the main problem in your case, liposuction alone can reduce the size of your chest and improve its contours. Liposuction works best when you have a good degree of skin laxity, since this will allow your chest skin to contract over the treated area.

If excess glandular tissue is the main cause of your condition – or if we determine that your skin is unlikely to contract after liposuction – we may recommend a surgical male breast reduction instead. In other situations, a combination of methods may be best. After evaluating your condition, we will discuss your gynecomastia treatment options with you in detail.
