Improves the shape and smoothness of the eyelids. When you age, your skin may become loose and develop deep lines and wrinkles around your eyes. You may also develop fat deposits over or under your eyes, making you look tired or aged. Blepharoplasty removes the excess skin and fat from your eyelids to make your eyes look healthier and more youthful. However, blepharoplasty only addresses the eyes and will not improve wrinkles in other areas of your face. These may be treated with a face lift or forehead lift.

What Areas Of The Face
Does Blepharoplasty Improve?
Who Is A Good Candidate For Blepharoplasty?
You may be a good candidate for blepharoplasty if your upper and/or lower eyelids droop, are puffy, or have extensive wrinkling. In addition to having the desire for more youthful-looking eyes, you should also:
- Be in overall good health
- Not be taking any medication that will negatively affect your healing
- Have realistic expectations for the procedure
How Long Does Recovery From Blepharoplasty Take?
The blepharoplasty procedure affects the area around your eyes, and if you want to conceal that you had the procedure it requires more time to recuperate than other less invasive procedures like dermal fillers or BOTOX® and Dysport. Although you can return to non-strenuous work within a few days, if you want to wait until your surgery is concealable, you should plan on taking about a week off from work, during which time you should focus on resting and allowing your body to heal. During this time you should eat healthy food, drink lots of water, and keep ointment on the incisions under your surgeon’s instruction.
After a week, any stitches or sutures will be removed, and you may feel ready to return to work. During this time and for at least a week after you should avoid any strenuous activity, including exercise. Some patients still experience bruising for up to 2-3 weeks after surgery, and the incisions will heal very well with an almost imperceptible scar.

Is Blepharoplasty Permanent?
The positive effects of eyelid surgery are long-lasting. Nothing can stop the effects of aging and time on your body, but you will maintain your more youthful appearance for many years. You can help prolong the effects of blepharoplasty by:
- Eating a healthy diet
- Exercising regularly
- Avoiding smoking
- Wearing sunscreen, UV-blocking sunglasses, and hats outside
