As one of the most popular non-surgical wrinkle treatments used in the United States every year, BOTOX® Cosmetic is frequently requested at our practice. However, even though over 4.5 million BOTOX® injections are performed annually in the U.S. alone, some patients still have concerns about the safety of BOTOX®, and what types of side effects are associated with its use.
Like any medical treatment, BOTOX® is not completely risk-free. However, the side effects linked to BOTOX® are minor and very rare, such as:
- Pain
- Bruising
- Headache
- Infection
Additionally, less than 1% of all BOTOX® patients may experience drooping eyelids, but this effect is temporary, and will fade on its own.
One of the ways our board-certified Atlanta plastic surgeons further minimize the side effects associated with BOTOX® is by making sure you are an excellent candidate for the treatment. We will thoroughly review your medical history and all current medications you are taking to determine if there is a conflict with BOTOX®. If you do have a problem that would interfere with BOTOX® injections, we offer many dermal fillers and other facial rejuvenation options that can help you meet your cosmetic goals. Also, at Marietta Plastic Surgery, all injectables are performed by one of our board-certified plastic surgeons, never by a nurse or physician’s assistant.
