An arm lift can be performed in a number of different ways. The procedure and recovery process for your arm lift will vary depending on the specific techniques your surgeon uses.
The three main arm lift techniques are:
- Liposuction – If you have large deposits of fat in your arms that have resisted your dieting and exercise efforts, liposuction alone may be enough to tone and tighten your arms. However, this method will only produce good results if the skin of your arms still has good elasticity (i.e. it is not too loose).
- Short brachioplasty – An incision is made in the arm pit, but does not extend any further down the arm. A short arm lift can eliminate a minor amount of excess skin and fat, making it a great option for the right patient. However, if you have a large amount of hanging skin, a short brachioplasty may not be capable of achieving the results you are looking for.
- Full brachioplasty – An incision is made from the armpit down the upper arm toward the elbow. This allows your surgeon to fully re-shape the upper arm, eliminating all excess skin and fat for the most dramatic results.
Liposuction can be combined with either a short or full brachioplasty to further enhance your results.
