Intense Pulsed Light or IPL is a kind of technology that works wonders on various type of skin issues. Photo-rejuvenation is one of its most common uses where skin pigmentation, thread veins, sun damage are treated effectively. It is also known to work effectively on other vascular lesions, freckles, skin redness and other skin issues. IPL photo-rejuvenation is often referred to as photofacial.
How Does IPL Work?
The IPL device is like a laser, which unlike the latter emits a range of light-waves that can be tuned and targeted to treat specific things. It uses intense pulses of non-coherent light over a range of wavelength. The light is meant to reach either the melanin or the hemoglobin and can be targeted towards blood vessels and pigmented cells. The light is then absorbed by the blood vessels or by the melanin. The targeted blood vessels walls get damaged, or the melanin breaks up once they absorb the light. They are then absorbed by the body which leads to them being less apparent on the skin. It is so effective that it does not affect any other tissue or any other part during treatment.
Treatment Procedure
At the laser center, you would be made to lie down and your eyes would be covered for protection. Usually protective glasses or eye pads are used for this purpose. Then, a cool gel is applied on the area(s) to be treated and the cool glass of the machine is placed on the skin. As pulses of the light flash you feel a sting. The procedure could last between 30-90 minutes depending on the size of the treatable area.
What Is Lumecca?
Lumecca is the most powerful IPL provider to treat pigmented skin and vascular lesions. Its advanced technology is able to provide results faster than any other IPL providers. It uses a special handpiece which is equipped with xenon flash lamp to treat the areas effectively. Since it uses photothermolysis, the photofacial treatment is comfortable. Depending on what needs to be treated, different lenses can be used over the Lumecca IPL. This makes the treatment very effective and precise.
What Makes Lumecca Stand Out From The Rest?
-
Treatment on skin type
Standard IPL:
This is usually not advisable on darker skin types. The darker the skin the more difficult it is to treat the melanin
Lumecca:
This has advanced technology which allows for effective treatment for both light and dark skin. Its range of treatment is also wider; from facial pigmentation, superficial vessels, skin texture, photo damage.
-
During treatment
Standard IPL:
You’d expect some stinging sensation and mild sensitivity in the area being treated
Lumecca:
Lumecca has a strong sapphire cooling that tip that helps protect the surface of the skin and ensure maximum safety and comfort. Besides the duration of a Lumecca treatment is usually significantly lesser than the standard one.
-
Number of sessions
Standard IPL:
You’d typically require at least 4-6 sessions for complete photorejuventation
Lumecca:
Its advanced technology allows you to get the same results in as little as 1-2 sessions.
Lumecca uses greater range of wavelength (500nm-700nm) which allows for better treatment and faster healthy cell regeneration.
