There are essentially two different breast implant shapes to choose from:

  • Round breast implants
  • Teardrop breast implants

Round breast implants are the most commonly used option. As their name implies, they have a round shape. Since these implants are symmetrical, you do not have to worry about implant rotation and can choose either a textured or smooth surface. You can also choose from several different implant profiles to adjust the way in which your breasts will project from your chest.

Teardrop breast implants have a sloped contour with a larger volume at the bottom. This shape is intended to more closely mimic the shape of natural breasts. One drawback is that if the implant shifts, it can give your breasts a misshapen appearance. In order to guard against this issue, teardrop implants must have a textured surface.
