If you are frustrated with your facial appearance, you may be considering face lift surgery to help recapture a more youthful look. While a face lift is an effective way of turning back the clock on your appearance, it may not be the ideal procedure for everyone.

During your consultation at Marietta Plastic Surgery, we will evaluate several different factors to determine whether or not you are a good face lift candidate, including:

  • Skin condition and texture – In order to get the best results from a face lift, your facial skin must still have some amount of elasticity. This will allow it to stretch in order to “lift” drooping skin and smooth out deep wrinkles.
  • Excess skin – If you have loose excess skin on the face or neck, we can trim and remove this skin during a face lift procedure.
  • Underlying bone structure – You should have a well-defined facial bone structure in order to support the careful alterations that are made during face lift surgery.
  • General health – You should be free of major medical concerns and in strong overall health before you undergo a face lift.

It’s important to remember that although a face lift can provide you with dramatic results, it is not meant to make you look like an entirely different person. The goal of face lift surgery is to help you look like a younger version of yourself. If we determine that you are not a good candidate for face lift surgery, we may recommend other facial rejuvenation procedures, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, dermal fillers, and/or laser skin resurfacing.
