Breast augmentation is a good procedure for most women who want to increase the size or improve the shape of their breasts. This may include adding fullness to the upper portion of the breast or increasing cleavage. In general, a woman is a good candidate for breast augmentation if:
- She is age 18 (or age 22 for silicone breast implants) or older.
- She is not pregnant or nursing, and it has been at least six months since the birth her last child
- She is in good general health, and at a stable weight
- She is prepared to take time to understand the procedure, including its risks and benefits
If you meet all these characteristics, then you are a good candidate for breast augmentation. There are other factors that may influence whether breast augmentation is the right procedure for you. Sometimes, breast sagging may be the major component of your dissatisfaction with your breasts. If this is the case, then a breast lift may be the right procedure.
