Patients who do not ask the right questions before a cosmetic procedure might end up dissatisfied or disfigured, experts say. U.S. law does not limit doctors to procedures only within their specialties, and only Texas, California, Louisiana and Florida require doctors to specify board certifications in their advertising. "Doctors who aren't plastic surgeons are doing liposuction procedures or breast augmentations in their office on the local level," which puts patients at risk, plastic surgeon Ralph Cozart said.
